Christian Psychological Center (CPC) was founded in 1977 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization to provide psychological care in Memphis and to the greater mid-south community. The mission of CPC is to provide hope and direction, in a manner that reflects God’s love and grace, to those who are experiencing emotional or relational difficulties, or are facing life transitions. Our staff includes Clinical or Counseling Psychologists (Ph.D. and Psy.D.), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), and an Educational Consultant.

The Center offers services in 4 main areas:

• Clinical Services: Including individual, conjoint, family and group therapy, testing, psychoeducational assessment, and educational testing and placement.
• Education and Prevention Programs: Which include trauma recovery, grief support, divorce recovery, sexual addiction recovery, premarital counseling and marital enrichment workshops.
• Training and Consultation: Primarily with church and parachurch ministries in areas such as developing basic counseling and crisis intervention skills, working with victims of violence and trauma, developing self-care strategies to deal effectively with the common stresses of pastoral and urban ministry, conflict and anger management, grief support, and assisting faith-based organizations in program development.
• Collaboration: Through partnering with other agencies to provide broader community-based initiatives that allow for a greater impact than individual agencies might have by their own efforts.

A key component of CPC’s community outreach is to help train and equip those involved in various agencies and ministries. We hope, by using our gifts and training as counselors, that we to can help ministry leaders be even more effective in dealing with mental health issues they might encounter with the people whom they serve. Through the years, we have not only provided training workshops and case consultation, but counseling services for those involved in pastoral or urban ministry to assist them in dealing with the stresses encountered in their work, and any personal or relational problems they have as well.
